EMPOWERING CHILDREN & ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES ACROSS ARKANSAS SINCE 1971.

MARCH IS DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AWARENESS MONTH

DDAM-Poster-2024

In 1987, President Reagan recognized March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month to increase “public awareness of the needs and the potential of Americans with developmental disabilities” and to provide the “encouragement and opportunities they need to lead productive lives and to achieve their full potential.”

The month also provides the catalyst to raise awareness about the many barriers that people with disabilities still face in achieving both self-determination and full societal inclusion.

The awareness campaign theme for 2024, developed by the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities, is “A World of Opportunities” which signifies celebrating people and working together to remove obstacles. The goal is to build a community that’s committed to creating a world where everyone can do well and succeed. Join us in making a world where all kinds of people have the chance to thrive!
